Real Life Story

Baby elephants depend on their families for everything, and those who are orphaned or abandoned as infants have little chance of survival.

But you can give them hope.

Dev was a newborn when an accident left him orphaned and clinging to life. The little elephant had fallen into a ravine where he was trapped between the rocks. Desperate, his mother navigated the treacherous terrain to try and save her baby, but lost her life shortly after Dev was rescued.

Grief stricken and horribly injured, Dev was rushed to IFAW's Wildlife Rescue Center and (thanks to generous donations from our supporters) given round-the-clock care. Slowly, his wounds healed and he befriended other orphaned elephants at the center - like Junmoni, abandoned by her herd when she couldn't keep up, and Ashok, separated from his family when they were chased away by villagers.

Thankfully, these young elephants have found a new family in each other - but without support from individuals like you, they wouldn't have survived.

By supporting IFAW, you will help save more elephants like Dev and other animals in need. Whether it's a baby seal cowering under a hunter's club, or a helpless puppy suffering from unspeakable abuse, IFAW rescues and protects animals around the world.

We rush aid to animals in the wake of natural disasters - provide veterinary care to companion animals in disadvantaged communities - and campaign to end the illegal trade in ivory and wildlife.

Your support will make a real difference to an animal in need.
