Homeless cats and dogs wander every neighborhood -destined for suffering or euthanasia. Please help us reduce the overpopulation of unwanted animals through sterilization and education.

Houston has high profile area dubbed the Corridor of Cruelty and Neglect-a quarter mile strip of road where dogs and cats are dumped. Many stray dogs roam there, and they are always there: mixes and pure breeds of all kinds-boxers, labs, shepherds, pit bulls, bull dogs, Rottweilers, Dalmatians, mostly larger dogs. But there are also small ones and plenty of puppies, too. Some have mange; some have broken bones; some are pregnant. Some are emaciated, and all are hungry. Some will come right up to you, and some will run the other way. They live in wooded areas and travel through ditches and across busy intersections. They get hit by cars and keep on going. They scrounge in the few parking lots for food scraps. There are some undeveloped streets that people in this area use to throw away trash and animals regularly. Apparently, the dividing line for the county and city animal control agencies is there, and that may mean that these poor lost souls do not have the chance to be adopted or even get to a shelter. Driving through this neighborhood you see sad and neglected dogs in backyards chained to posts, to trees, to sheds, and to fences everywhere you look. SNAP sends our mobile clinic there to sterilize the rescued animals as well as "owned" animals. But the mere presence of the "yellow bus" is also an education for the residents, who are moved to ask questions and seek a better life for their animals.
