Human Interest Story

Kitty and I are doing fine.

I want to tell you about Kitty and me. Last September, we had a fire in our house. Kitty came running and got me. She ran around, back and forth, and hit me again. I followed her to another bedroom and saw smoke coming out. We went downstairs and got my mom. I saw the smoke alarm light on and fire under the kitchen table and dark smoke in the kitchen.

I got Kitty's leash and we went outside. Then I remembered I needed the keys to the car, so I went back and got the keys and saw more fire in the living room.

We drove to the neighbors and called 911. The ambulance came and helped my mother. She was having trouble breathing. The house is still standing, but has bad black burns and smoke damage.

I say, "Thank you, Kitty, for helping us when the fire started in my house." She saved our house and our lives! Smile! I am happy that Kitty did a good job helping us. She is 11 years old now.

Love you,
Susan N. and Kitty
